Entertainment Website Design

Entertainment websites have to do more than look good. They need to handle embedded ticketing, render event calendars cleanly on every device, load fast despite video and gallery content, and guide visitors toward a purchase or inquiry without friction. We build WordPress sites that meet every one of those requirements, for venues, agencies, performers, production companies, and attractions.

Overview

What Makes a Great Entertainment Website

Seven things every entertainment site needs. We build all of them in from day one.

Ticketing

Integration that actually works

Eventbrite, ThunderTix, AudienceView, Spektrix, Showpass, Purplepass, and WooCommerce Bookings all behave differently. A properly integrated flow keeps users on your site, passes them cleanly into checkout, and doesn't break after a WordPress update.

Calendars

Event calendar UX built for mobile

Most visitors find events on their phones. A calendar that displays correctly on desktop but collapses, overlaps, or buries information on a 375px screen is losing you sales every day. We test every calendar implementation across device sizes before launch.

Performance

Media performance under control

Video embeds, audio players, photo galleries, and Instagram feeds all add render weight. We use Vimeo or YouTube hosting instead of self-hosted files, lazy loading, and CDN delivery to keep load times in check even on media-heavy pages.

Conversion

Booking and inquiry flows that convert

For agencies, production companies, and booking-based performers, the inquiry form is the conversion point. We design multi-step flows that capture the right information (event type, date, budget, guest count) without overwhelming a first-time visitor.

Rosters

Artist and roster pages that scale

Entertainment agencies with large rosters need filterable artist pages that are easy for staff to update and easy for clients to browse. We build roster architectures that grow with your agency without becoming a maintenance burden.

Press

Press and media kit sections

Journalists, event planners, and promoters need downloadable press materials: hi-res photos, bios, logos, and technical riders. We build press sections as a first-class page type, not a Google Drive folder nobody can find.

Accessibility

ADA accessibility as a standard

Public-facing entertainment venues have accessibility obligations. Captions on video content, proper color contrast, keyboard navigation, and semantic HTML are built in, not bolted on later.

Every one of these gets addressed during discovery, before a single wireframe gets drawn. That order matters: a ticketing platform choice or an accessibility requirement can change the entire site architecture, and finding that out mid-build costs time and money.

Process

Our Entertainment Website Design Process

Five stages from kickoff to launch. Every one built around how entertainment audiences actually behave online.

01

Discovery and Integration Mapping

Before any design work begins, we map your ticketing platform, booking workflow, email marketing setup, and media hosting. Entertainment sites require more integration planning up front than most verticals, and surprises at launch are expensive.

02

Architecture and Wireframes

We structure the site around your audiences: ticket buyers, corporate clients, booking agents, and press contacts often need different paths through the same site. Wireframes establish page hierarchy and conversion paths before any visual design.

03

Visual Design Aligned With Your Brand

Entertainment brands are often highly visual. We work from your existing brand assets or help you establish a direction, then build a WordPress theme that renders your brand correctly across every page type without slow, bloated page builders.

04

Integration and Functionality Build

Ticketing widgets, event calendars, booking forms, artist roster filters, video embeds, and Mailchimp or Klaviyo signup flows are all built and tested in staging before launch. Nothing goes live without working end-to-end.

05

75+ Point QA and Launch

Every site runs through our Optik Method QA checklist before going live. We check performance, mobile rendering, form functionality, ticketing flow, accessibility, redirect setup, and analytics configuration. Then we launch.

Entertainment Platform Integrations

The tools your business actually runs on. Every entertainment site we build gets connected to your real stack, not a generic one.

A note on ticketing

Why Ticketing Integration Deserves Extra Attention

Of everything on an entertainment website, ticketing integration causes the most post-launch headaches when it's rushed. Every platform (Eventbrite, ThunderTix, AudienceView, Spektrix, Showpass, Purplepass) has its own API quirks, its own checkout flow, and its own way of syncing event data back to your site. A generic plugin install often gets you partway there, but the details around mobile checkout, ticket type variations, and promo codes are where things break.

We test the full purchase path before launch: browsing an event, selecting ticket types, applying discounts if applicable, completing checkout, and receiving confirmation. On mobile and on desktop. That level of testing catches the issues that would otherwise surface as a lost sale weeks after launch, when nobody's watching closely anymore.

FAQ

How much does an entertainment website cost?

Most entertainment websites run $2,000-$12,000 depending on scope, the integrations required, and the number of page types needed. A performer or small agency site sits at the lower end. A venue with full ticketing integration, an event calendar, a roster section, and a press kit lands closer to the middle or upper range. We scope everything individually after a strategy call.

Can you integrate our ticketing platform with WordPress?

Yes, in most cases. The specifics depend on which platform you use and what your checkout experience needs to look like. Eventbrite, ThunderTix, WooCommerce Bookings, Showpass, Purplepass, AudienceView, and Spektrix all support WordPress integration through plugins, APIs, or embeddable widgets. We map the requirements in discovery before any design work begins.

How do you handle sites with a lot of video and media?

We treat performance as a design constraint from the start. Video is hosted on Vimeo or YouTube, not uploaded directly to WordPress. Images are compressed and served through a CDN. Galleries and embeds use lazy loading so they don't block the initial page render. A media-rich site doesn't have to be a slow site if it's built correctly.

Can you build an artist roster page that our team can update easily?

Yes. We build roster architectures in WordPress using custom post types so adding, editing, or removing artists requires no coding. Staff can update bios, photos, availability, and categories through a clean admin interface, and clients can filter the roster by genre, type, or any attribute that matters for your business.

How long does an entertainment website project take?

Most entertainment website projects run 8 to 14 weeks from kickoff to launch. Projects with complex ticketing integrations, large rosters, or custom functionality may take longer. We establish a realistic timeline in scoping so there are no surprises mid-project.

Do you build custom WordPress themes or use pre-built templates?

We build custom themes rather than relying on generic templates or heavy page builders. Entertainment sites have specific needs around ticketing displays, calendar rendering, and media performance that off-the-shelf templates usually handle poorly. A custom build gives us control over exactly how those elements load and behave.

What if we need to change our ticketing platform after launch?

Platform switches happen, and a well-built site should absorb that without a full rebuild. We architect ticketing integrations so the underlying page structure and design stay intact even if the specific provider changes down the line. The scope of that kind of switch depends on how different the new platform's requirements are, and we're glad to talk through it when the time comes.
