Restaurants - Web Design

Restaurant Website Design

We design WordPress websites that turn browsers into guests. Mobile-first, fast-loading, integrated with the platforms your restaurant runs on, and built so your team can keep menus and specials current without calling a developer.

Overview

What Makes a Great Restaurant Website

Seven things every restaurant site needs. We build all of them in from day one.

Performance

Mobile speed that doesn't make diners wait

70-80% of restaurant site traffic comes from mobile devices. A site that loads slowly on a cellular connection, or requires zooming to read a menu, loses guests before they decide to visit. We design and optimize for mobile from the start, not as an afterthought.

Menu

Easy to read, easy to update

Your menu is the most visited page on your site. We build menus as structured pages, not PDFs, and can connect them to dynamic platforms like Popmenu or BentoBox that sync changes automatically as your kitchen updates them.

Reservations & ordering

Friction-free booking and checkout

Diners who hit a clunky reservation widget or a confusing ordering flow abandon the process. We integrate OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Toast, Square for Restaurants, ChowNow, and GoTab so these flows live natively within your site.

Photography

Food photos that load fast and look right

More than a third of diners say food photos influence where they eat. We optimize your images for web performance without sacrificing quality, and structure them with proper alt text so they meet ADA requirements too.

Location info

Hours, address, and contact at every turn

These are the facts every diner needs before they visit. They should be on every page, easy to find, and always current. We build these into the site architecture rather than hiding them on a contact page.

Accessibility

ADA compliance built in, not bolted on

Restaurant websites are subject to ADA Title III. Accessible forms, keyboard navigation, proper color contrast, and image alt text aren't optional extras. We build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards on every new site.

CMS

An admin your team can actually use

Specials change. Events get added. Seasonal menus rotate. We build the WordPress admin for restaurant sites to be intuitive enough that a front-of-house manager can make updates without a developer on the phone.

Process

Our Restaurant Website Design Process

Five stages from kickoff to launch. Every one built around how diners actually research and book.

01

Discovery and Strategy

We start by understanding your restaurant: your concept, your guests, your current site's problems, and what you need the new site to do. We look at your reservation and ordering setup, your menu structure, and whether you have locations that need individual pages.

02

Content and Photography Planning

A restaurant site lives or dies on its content. Before design begins, we establish what pages you need, what your menu structure looks like, what photography assets you have or need, and who on your team will handle ongoing updates.

03

Design and Integration Setup

We design the site in WordPress, connecting your reservation platform, online ordering system, and any other integrations your operation depends on. For sites with multiple locations, we structure the architecture during this phase so every location has what it needs.

04

ADA Compliance and Performance Review

Before we hand the site to you for review, we run it against WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards and optimize all images and page load times. Mobile performance gets specific attention. This isn't a checkbox at the end. It's built into the process.

05

75+ Point QA and Launch

Every site we build goes through our Optik Method quality audit, a 75+ step check covering functionality, mobile rendering, form submissions, integration testing, browser compatibility, and accessibility. We don't launch a site that hasn't passed it.

Restaurant Website Features and Integrations

The restaurant-specific tools we plug into. Every site we build gets integrated with the platforms your operation actually runs on, not a generic stack.

Reservations

Booking that lives on your site

OpenTable, Resy, Tock, SevenRooms. Reservation widgets integrated natively so guests never leave your site to book a table.

POS & online ordering

From click to kitchen

Toast, Square for Restaurants, Clover, ChowNow, GoTab. Online ordering integrations connected directly to your site's menu pages.

Menu & marketing

Menus that update themselves

BentoBox, Popmenu. Dynamic menu platforms that sync changes to your site automatically, so seasonal updates don't require a developer.

Email & CRM

Guest lists that grow

Mailchimp, HubSpot. Email capture built into the site so specials, events, and loyalty offers reach guests directly.

Local search

Google Business Profile alignment

We keep your hours, menu links, and location data consistent between your site and your Google Business Profile so diners see the same accurate information everywhere they look.

Multi-location

One brand, many locations

Individual location pages with accurate hours, menus, and reservation links, structured under one consistent brand. If your operation runs a platform not listed here, ask us.

Most restaurant websites fall in the $2,000-$12,000 range. Where a project lands depends on the number of pages, the complexity of integrations, whether you have multiple locations, and the level of custom functionality required. Ongoing maintenance is priced separately through our care plans. See maintenance plan pricing.

FAQ

How much does a restaurant website cost?

Most restaurant websites run $2,000-$12,000. A straightforward single-location site with reservation and menu integration lands in the lower end of that range. Builds with multiple ordering platforms, event booking, multi-location architecture, or extensive custom functionality run higher. We scope every project specifically after a 30-minute consultation, so you'll know the number before anything starts.

Do you build websites for cafes and bars, or only full-service restaurants?

We build for the full range: fine dining, casual dining, fast-casual, cafes, bars, gastropubs, food trucks, ghost kitchens, and multi-location groups. The design approach and integrations vary by concept, but the process is the same. If you serve food or drinks and need a WordPress site, we can help.

Can we keep our existing domain and any content we want to keep?

Yes. We handle domain migrations regularly. If there's existing content, photography, or menu structure you want to carry over, we incorporate it into the new build. We'll audit what you have during discovery and let you know what's worth keeping and what we'd recommend replacing.

What if our menu changes seasonally?

We build restaurant sites so seasonal menu changes are something your team handles, not ours. Depending on your setup, that's either a direct edit in the WordPress admin or an automatic sync from a platform like Popmenu or BentoBox. We'll recommend the right approach during discovery based on how your operation works.

Do you offer post-launch support?

Yes. After launch, your site transitions to one of our WordPress maintenance plans. Those cover ongoing updates, backups, security monitoring, and direct access to the team that built your site. We don't hand sites off and disappear. See what's included in our maintenance plans.

Can you connect our site to a third-party delivery app?

Yes. We build sites that link out to delivery platforms your restaurant already uses, and where a platform supports it, we integrate ordering directly rather than sending guests to a separate app. We'll walk through your current delivery setup during discovery and recommend the approach that keeps the most order volume on channels you control.

Will our new site help with Google Business Profile visibility?

We build sites with consistent hours, menu links, and location data that match what's on your Google Business Profile, since mismatched information between the two erodes trust with both diners and search engines. We don't manage your Google Business Profile directly, but we make sure your website supports it instead of working against it.
