Beverage Distributors - WordPress Maintenance

WordPress Maintenance for Beverage Distributor Websites

A beverage distributor website isn't a static marketing page. It's a live operational tool with retailer login areas, ERP-connected catalog feeds, credit application forms, and pricing data that changes regularly. When something breaks, you find out from an account that couldn't log in, a form that stopped routing, or a catalog showing last month's pricing. By then, the damage is already done. We manage 800+ WordPress sites today and know what breaks, when it breaks, and how to prevent it before your accounts notice anything's wrong.

Overview

Why Beverage Distributor Websites Need Specialized Maintenance

Most websites need standard maintenance: plugin updates, security patches, backups, and uptime monitoring. Beverage distributor websites need all of that plus a working knowledge of what sits behind the site. When a WordPress core update ships, the question isn't just whether the theme renders correctly. The question is whether the Encompass API connection still passes authentication, whether the Gravity Forms credit application is still routing to the right inbox, and whether the protected retailer portal is enforcing access control the way it was configured.

ERP integrations require active monitoring

Connections to Encompass, eoStar, NetSuite, Sage X3, or Acumatica aren't fire-and-forget. API endpoints change, authentication tokens expire, and data feeds drift when ERP configurations are updated on the back end. Without active monitoring, a broken integration can silently show stale pricing or missing inventory to your accounts for days.

Retailer portal security is a recurring obligation

Password-protected login areas, account-specific pricing displays, and member-restricted sell sheet libraries are high-value targets. Outdated plugins that handle user authentication or access control are a common attack surface. We keep those current and monitor for unusual access patterns.

TTB-compliant content needs to stay compliant after updates

When a page template is updated or a plugin changes how product pages render, mandatory statement placements can shift. We check regulated content areas as part of update reviews so TTB and state compliance requirements stay intact after every maintenance cycle.

Form submissions are mission-critical

A Gravity Forms credit application that stops routing because of a plugin conflict isn't an inconvenience. It's a lost account. We test form functionality after every significant update and set up delivery confirmation monitoring so submission failures are caught immediately.

What's included

What's Included in Our Maintenance Plans

Updates

Core, plugin & theme updates

Updates run on a regular schedule and are staged and tested before touching your live site, so a routine update never becomes a broken integration.

Security

Security monitoring & malware scanning

Regular scans catch vulnerabilities before they become a real problem, especially around login areas and account data.

Reliability

Uptime monitoring

Rapid response to outages, with continuous monitoring so we often know about a problem before your accounts call in.

Backups

Daily or weekly off-site backups

Tested restore capability, so if anything goes wrong, we can bring your catalog and account data back fast.

Integrations

Post-update compatibility testing

Theme, plugins, ERP integrations, and forms all get tested after updates, plus protected portal access control verification.

Support

Direct support access

SSL certificate monitoring, performance optimization, and monthly reporting on site health. Content edits and minor fixes are scoped a la carte on top of your plan.

What Happens If You Don't Maintain Your Distributor Website

A broken portal locks out your accounts at the worst time

A plugin conflict or expired SSL certificate can make your retailer login area inaccessible. Accounts who can't get in don't wait for you to fix it. They place their order with a distributor who has a working portal.

Stale catalog data erodes account trust

If your site shows pricing or inventory that doesn't match what your ERP has, buyers stop trusting the site. Once they stop checking your catalog online, you're back to inbound calls for every order.

Outdated plugins are an active security liability

WordPress is the most widely targeted CMS in the world, and plugin vulnerabilities are published regularly. An unmaintained distributor site with a login area and payment-adjacent forms is a meaningful target. Breaches affect account data, your TTB licensing standing, and your reputation with suppliers.

FAQ

Can you take over maintenance on a site we didn't build?

Yes. We take on maintenance for sites built by other agencies regularly. We start with a site audit to document what's running, identify any immediate security or performance issues, and map out the integrations that need active monitoring. If there are underlying technical problems that need to be resolved before we can maintain the site responsibly, we'll tell you that upfront before any ongoing commitment starts.

What happens when a WordPress update breaks our ERP integration?

We test ERP integration connections in a staging environment before applying major updates to the live site. If a core or plugin update creates a conflict with your Encompass, eoStar, or NetSuite connection, we catch it in staging and resolve it before it affects your accounts. For Enterprise plan clients, we run integration health checks on a defined schedule so drift is caught proactively, not reactively.

How quickly do you respond when something breaks?

Response time depends on your plan. Priority response is available on our Enterprise plan with defined SLA windows. All plans include uptime monitoring with immediate alerting, so we know when your site goes down at the same moment you do. In practice, we often know about an outage before you call.

Do you handle content updates as part of maintenance?

Content edits aren't bundled into the base plan. Minor copy changes, image swaps, and small structural adjustments are scoped a la carte at our hourly rate, and ongoing catalog management or larger content programs get their own scope so you know what you're paying for.

What if we decide to rebuild the site later? Do we lose our maintenance history?

No. Your site's maintenance history, backup archive, and integration documentation all transfer to a new project if you rebuild. In our experience, clients who rebuild with us after a maintenance period get a cleaner, faster build because we already know their stack, their integrations, and what the old site was doing well and poorly. There's no starting from scratch on the relationship side.
