Healthcare Website Design & WordPress Maintenance

Your patients search for care before they ever call your office. What they find online, and how quickly they can act on it, shapes whether they book with you or keep looking. We build HIPAA-compliant, ADA-accessible WordPress sites for hospitals, medical groups, and specialty practices, and we keep them that way after launch.

Overview

Why Healthcare Websites Underperform

A healthcare website carries responsibilities most other industry sites don't. Every contact form, appointment request field, or patient intake element that touches protected health information falls under HIPAA. That's not a technicality. It's a compliance obligation with real financial and legal exposure, and most general-purpose agencies aren't equipped to navigate it.

And patients keep raising the bar.

They expect more than they did even three years ago. They expect to find a provider, confirm insurance acceptance, and book an appointment without picking up the phone. If a site can't do that, or does it slowly, 53% of mobile visitors leave before they get the chance. For a hospital or multi-location group running scheduling tools, a slow or broken page is a direct revenue problem.

The compliance layer and the user experience layer pull in different directions under a general agency. HIPAA-compliant hosting, encrypted forms, Business Associate Agreements with every vendor, ADA accessibility standards, EHR integrations that require careful technical handling: we build these in from the start, not after launch.

Why us

Our Commitments to Healthcare Clients

A senior point of contact on every project

You talk to a senior practitioner from day one, not a junior account coordinator routing messages. Strategy, scope, and the hard calls, including the compliance decisions, come from someone who's actually done the work on healthcare sites before.

Our Optik Method, backed by a 75+ step QA check

Every healthcare project runs through a structured process and closes with a 75+ point quality audit before launch. No site ships without it, and the audit includes compliance-focused checks specific to healthcare builds.

We're still here six months later

After your healthcare site launches, you get ongoing care plans and real support whenever you need us. The same team that built your site is still the team answering your tickets a year later. That matters when you need a provider directory update at 9 PM or a scheduling integration fixed before clinic hours.

100% focused on WordPress

We don't split attention across five platforms. Depth beats breadth, and we've seen nearly every scenario a WordPress healthcare site can throw at us, from complex EHR integration work to HIPAA-compliant form configurations to multi-location builds with provider directories.

Why us

Why Healthcare Organizations Choose CyberOptik

We understand the compliance stack

HIPAA-compliant hosting, Business Associate Agreements, encrypted forms, analytics configurations that don't expose PHI, and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility are built into our process. We don't learn these requirements on your project.

EHR and scheduling integrations are part of the build

Epic, Cerner, athenahealth, Phreesia, Healow, Zocdoc: we've worked with these platforms, and we know how to connect them to a WordPress site without creating security gaps or compliance exposures.

Patient experience drives every design decision

Find-a-doctor functionality, insurance acceptance display, online scheduling that reduces no-shows, multilingual accessibility: these are the features patients actually use, and we build them correctly.

800+ WordPress sites managed, including healthcare

Scale and experience translate directly to fewer surprises on your project. We've seen the edge cases, the plugin conflicts, the hosting failures, and the post-launch support requests that healthcare sites generate. We plan for them.

FAQ

Does my healthcare website actually need to be HIPAA compliant?

It depends on what your site does. If it collects any protected health information through forms, appointment requests, or patient intake, or connects to a patient portal, then yes. HIPAA applies to the full data path: the form, the server, the email notification, and any third-party tools involved. A site that only publishes general information has lower exposure, but most healthcare sites today collect enough to require compliance.

What does WCAG 2.1 AA compliance mean for my practice's website?

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the accessibility standard healthcare organizations receiving federal funding must meet by May 2026 under HHS's Section 504 rule. Practically, that means keyboard navigation, sufficient color contrast (4.5:1 for body text), screen reader compatibility, alt text, video captions, and properly labeled forms. Healthcare sites are also high-risk targets for ADA lawsuits, so we build to WCAG 2.1 AA from the start.

Can you integrate my website with our EHR system?

Yes. We have experience connecting WordPress sites to Epic, Cerner, athenahealth, NextGen, eClinicalWorks, Greenway Health, and DrChrono, along with patient engagement platforms like Phreesia and Healow. The complexity depends on the EHR system and what patient-facing functionality you want to expose. We scope integrations individually so you know exactly what's included and what's required from your EHR vendor before we start building.

How do you handle online appointment scheduling on a HIPAA-compliant site?

Scheduling integrations like Zocdoc, Phreesia, and EHR scheduling widgets need HIPAA-aware implementation. The scheduling tool must be HIPAA-capable and willing to sign a BAA, the connection encrypted, and no data captured by non-compliant analytics. We configure integrations with these requirements in place and can advise on tool selection if you haven't chosen one yet.

How long does a healthcare website project take?

A focused practice or specialty group site typically runs 6-10 weeks from kickoff to launch. Larger builds (multi-location systems with custom provider directories, EHR integrations, multilingual content) take longer because compliance review and integration testing are more complex. Every project follows our Optik Method, including a 75+ step QA audit before launch.

What does a healthcare WordPress website cost?

Three typical scopes:

Websites. $2-5k for smaller focused sites, $5-8k for a well-built site with typical integrations, $8-12k for larger builds with more pages or deeper integrations.

Health system sites with deep EHR integrations, custom provider directories, multilingual support, or multi-campus layouts sit higher. Every project is scoped after a free consultation.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance after the site launches?

Yes, ongoing maintenance is one of our core services for healthcare clients. A plugin vulnerability on a site handling patient intake data is a potential HIPAA exposure, not just a security inconvenience. Our plans include tested updates, HIPAA-compliant encrypted backups, uptime monitoring, and ongoing support access -- details are on our WordPress Maintenance page.

Can you audit an existing healthcare website for compliance gaps?

Yes. We regularly review healthcare sites built by other agencies and identify compliance gaps missed during the original build. Common issues include standard analytics pixels capturing PHI, contact forms that aren't HIPAA-encrypted, hosting arrangements without BAAs in place, and WCAG accessibility failures that create legal exposure. If you want to understand where you stand before your next project or a compliance review, we can work through that with you.
