Yes. A well-built site at launch still needs ongoing care to stay well-built six months later. WordPress core, plugins, and themes release updates constantly, and some introduce compatibility issues that need to be caught before they affect your live site. Without maintenance, a site that launched in excellent condition will degrade in performance, security, and reliability over time.
