Technical SEO fixes the problems you can’t see
Your site can look great and still be invisible to Google if the code underneath is fighting the crawler. That’s the invisible problem: rankings, speed, and indexing issues that never show up when you just look at the page. One-off technical engagements start at $1,500. If you’re already on our SEO retainer, most of this work is included.
Search engines can only rank what they can crawl, understand, and index. If your site’s architecture confuses that process, no amount of good content will fix it. We work through the technical layer so Google’s crawlers can do their job properly, and so your visitors get pages that load fast and work right.

Why it matters
Why technical SEO matters
Rankings only work if Google can actually crawl and index your site. Every other part of SEO assumes that foundation is solid, and it often isn’t.
Think of technical SEO as the wiring and plumbing of the house. If it’s broken, nothing else you do on top matters. Content won’t compound. Link building won’t compound. You can spend a year producing great pages and watch nothing happen because Google can’t see them properly. Fix the technical foundation first and the rest of the SEO investment actually pays off.
- Broken canonicals split your ranking signal. If canonical tags point the wrong way, Google can end up treating duplicate URLs as separate pages, quietly splitting the ranking signal that should be going to one page.
- Slow sites drop in mobile results. Google measures real-world load speed, and a sluggish site gets pushed down in mobile search, where most of your traffic lives.
- Missing structured data leaves rich results on the table. Without schema markup, Google can't show the star ratings, FAQs, or other rich results that pull extra clicks from the search page.
- A bad redirect chain leaks link equity. Every extra hop in a redirect chain bleeds a little bit of the authority that link was supposed to pass to your page.
- JavaScript-rendered sites often don’t render for Googlebot. If your content only shows up after JavaScript runs, there's a real chance Google's crawler never sees it at all.
The fixes are often small. The ranking impact is real.
Services
What we check and fix
- Core Web Vitals and PageSpeed. We run a full performance check and find what's actually slowing your pages down, whether that's unoptimized images, bloated code, or a slow host.
- Crawl errors and indexability. We check what Google can and can't reach on your site, and fix the pages that are getting blocked or skipped for no good reason.
- Robots.txt and sitemap.xml. Small files, big impact. A misconfigured robots.txt or a stale sitemap can accidentally keep Google away from pages you want ranked.
- Canonical tags and duplicate content. We find where your site is competing with itself and fix the canonical setup so ranking signal goes to one URL instead of getting split.
- Redirect chains and broken links. We clean up multi-hop redirects and dead links that are leaking link equity and frustrating visitors.
- Structured data (schema markup). We implement schema where it actually helps you earn rich results, not just to check a box.
- Mobile parity and JavaScript rendering. We confirm your mobile site matches your desktop site, and that content built with JavaScript actually renders for Googlebot, not just for a human visitor.
- Internal linking structure. We build a linking structure that helps both visitors and crawlers understand how your pages relate to each other.
- HTTPS and SSL configuration. Mixed content warnings, expired certificates, and half-migrated HTTPS setups all hurt rankings and trust. We confirm the whole site loads clean over HTTPS.
- URL structure and cleanup. Messy URLs, parameter bloat, session IDs, and orphan pages get sorted so search engines see one clean version of every page.
Process
How we handle technical SEO
Technical SEO is where a lot of agencies wave hands. Vague reports, no real fix list, and a monthly invoice that keeps showing up. We do it differently. We give you a written scope: here are the 4-5 real problems, here's what we'll fix, here's what it costs.
Some of those fixes are dev work that needs to touch your site's code. Others are content-side, like rewriting a page that's competing with itself for the same keyword. We handle both because we own the site too, so there's no back-and-forth between an SEO vendor and a dev team pointing fingers at each other.
We also don't sell you a 100-item to-do list. Most technical audits could list a hundred small things wrong with any site. We focus on the 4-5 items that actually change your rankings, and we tell you why the rest can wait.
Tools we actually use. Screaming Frog for full-site crawls (broken links, redirect chains, meta issues, orphan pages), Google Search Console for real crawl and index data straight from Google, PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse for Core Web Vitals, Ahrefs for backlink and competitive checks, and Google's Rich Results Test for schema validation. None of this is exotic -- it’s the same toolset any serious technical SEO team uses. What matters is knowing how to read the output and act on it.
Timeline & investment
How it works and what it costs
Every technical engagement starts with a scope call so we can look at your site before quoting anything.
How it works
- ✓Scope call. We look at your site and talk through what's actually going on.
- ✓Written fix list and quote. The 4-5 real problems, what we'll do about each, and a fixed price.
- ✓Fixes deployed. We do the work, dev-side and content-side, on your site.
- ✓Post-fix verification. We confirm the fixes actually took, not just that we made the change.
- ✓Report. A plain-language summary of what changed and why.
Investment
- ✓One-off engagements start at $1,500. Similar to our full SEO audit.
- ✓Bigger scope goes up from there. Major site restructures, JavaScript rendering rebuilds, or international setups take more work and cost more.
- ✓Fixed-fee, quoted before we start. No hourly billing, no surprises.
- ✓Already on our SEO retainer ($750/mo+)? Most technical work is included as part of the ongoing engagement.
Is this right for you?
Who technical SEO is (and isn’t) a fit for
We’d rather turn down a bad fit than sell you the wrong thing. Here’s the straight cut.
You’re a fit if
- ✓Your rankings dropped after a site change and you can't figure out why
- ✓Your PageSpeed or Core Web Vitals scores are ugly
- ✓You know something's off with crawling or indexing but can't diagnose it
- ✓You're launching or relaunching a site and want technical done right from the start
- ✓You're on an SEO retainer with someone else and they're not touching the technical layer
You probably don’t need this if
- ✗Your site is a static one-page brochure with zero SEO ambitions
- ✗You're already on our SEO retainer (most technical work is covered)
- ✗You want a 100-item audit report with no fixes attached (our SEO audit is the better fit for that)
If that’s you, we’ll say so on our first call. No hard sell.

FAQs
What's the difference between an audit and technical SEO?
An audit is the report: a prioritized list of what's wrong, with no obligation to hire us for the fixes. Technical SEO is us actually doing the fixes. A lot of clients start with the audit and then have us handle the fix list, but you can also skip straight to this if you already know you want the work done.
How long does a typical technical engagement take?
Depends on what's actually broken. Some fixes, like a robots.txt error or a bad canonical, get resolved in days. Bigger items like a JavaScript rendering fix or a redirect cleanup across a large site take longer. We'll give you a real timeline in the written scope, not a generic range.
Do I need to be on WordPress for this?
Yes. We only work on WordPress sites. If you're on something else, we'd start by migrating you to WordPress and then run technical SEO from there. It's not a limitation as much as it's the platform we know inside and out.
What if the fixes need dev work on my site?
We handle it. Some technical fixes are dev-side (touching code) and some are content-side. We do both ourselves instead of handing you a list and pointing you to a developer, so nothing gets stuck in the middle.
Do I keep the fixes if I stop working with you?
Yes. Once a fix is deployed to your site, it's yours. This is a one-off deliverable, not a subscription that undoes itself if you leave. Some fixes may need occasional upkeep as your site changes, which is part of why a lot of clients end up rolling this into an SEO retainer.
