A redesign should fix what’s actually broken, not just look newer

Most redesigns just put a new coat of paint on the same slow, low-converting site. We treat a redesign as a new build, starting from your current site instead of a blank page. Same pricing as new development: $2k starting, $5k average.

A redesign should be more than a new theme slapped over the same problems. We look at what's actually holding your site back, keep what's working, and rebuild the rest.

Why us

Why teams pick us for redesigns

Most agencies treat a redesign as a facelift: new colors, new fonts, same underlying site. That's how you end up redesigning again in two years because nothing actually got fixed.

  • We fix what's broken, not just what looks old. A redesign that only makes the site look newer without addressing slow load times, weak conversion, a broken mobile experience, or missing SEO structure isn't a redesign. It's a re-skin.
  • Your current site is a reference, not a cage. We use your existing content and structure as a starting point, but we're not afraid to stray from it when it's not serving you.
  • 700+ sites means we know what to keep. We've launched 700+ WordPress sites since 2002, so we can tell you fast what's worth keeping, what needs rethinking, and what should just be deleted.
  • We look before we touch anything. Every redesign includes a review of your current analytics, so we understand what's actually working on your site before we start changing it.
  • Fixed price, no hourly surprises. You get a written scope and a fixed fee upfront. No billable-hours mystery once the project starts.

What's included

What's included in a redesign

  • Analytics review. We look at your current site's data before we design anything, so decisions are based on how people actually use your site, not guesswork.
  • Custom design that fixes real problems. A new design built to address your conversion, speed, and mobile issues, not just a fresh coat of paint.
  • A full WordPress rebuild. We rebuild your site on WordPress. This is not a re-skin of your existing site's code or theme.
  • Content strategy review. We go through your existing content and tell you straight what stays, what changes, and what should be cut.
  • Redirects from every old URL. Every existing URL gets mapped to its new home so your SEO doesn't tank when the new site goes live.
  • Launch-day training. We walk your team through how to update the new site before we hand it off.
  • Hosting migration, if needed. If your current hosting isn't a good fit for the new build, we handle the move.
  • 30 days of post-launch support. We stick around after launch to catch anything that needs adjusting.

Ron's take

How we handle redesigns

Most redesigns fail because agencies treat them as coats of paint. New colors, new fonts, same site underneath, and the same problems that made you want a redesign in the first place. We treat redesigns as rebuilds. Some things from your current site are worth keeping, and we'll tell you exactly what those are.

We don't preserve broken structure just because it's already there. If your navigation is confusing or your page architecture doesn't make sense, we're changing it. What we do preserve is what's actually working: URLs that carry SEO equity, content that converts, positioning that resonates with your customers. A redesign is usually the right time to trim your page count, not add more pages nobody reads.

Most sites we work with go 4 to 7 years between redesigns. That's the range we see across our 700+ WordPress builds -- past that, the tech, the visuals, and usually the business itself have moved on far enough that a rebuild pays back faster than piecemeal patches.

Timeline-wise, a redesign runs about the same as a new build. Typically 6 to 10 weeks, depending on scope.

Timeline & investment

What to expect

We quote after a free call and a look at your current site, not before. Here's how the process and pricing typically break down.

How it works

  • Free 20-30 min call plus a review of your current site
  • Analytics analysis to see what's actually working today
  • Written scope spelling out what stays, what changes, and what goes
  • Design mockups, usually 2-3 weeks
  • Rebuild, usually 4-6 weeks
  • Launch, including redirect setup and training on the new site

Investment

  • Same pricing as new dev: $2k starting, $5k average. A redesign is a new build with your content and structure as a starting reference, so we price it the same because the work is largely the same.
  • Same fixed-fee model, same written scope. No hourly billing.
  • Bigger sites scale up from there. We quote after we've actually looked at your site.
  • We don't charge a premium just because "redesign" sounds fancier than "new build."

Is this right for you?

Who a redesign is (and isn't) a fit for

We'd rather turn down a bad fit than sell you the wrong thing. Here's the straight cut.

You're a fit if

  • Your current site looks dated and doesn't reflect who you are today
  • Conversion is terrible: visitors bounce, form submissions dropped
  • Your mobile experience is broken
  • Your page speed is embarrassing
  • You're running SEO or PPC that's held back by the site itself
  • You want to keep some things (URLs, content, positioning) and rebuild the rest

You probably don't need this if

  • You just want a fresh coat of paint on the same broken site (that's a re-theme, not a redesign, and we don't do it)
  • You built your current site in the last year and just don't like how it looks now (try a re-theme or a designer, not us)
  • You're on Wix or Squarespace and want to stay there (we only build WordPress; see our migration page)
  • You're expecting SEO rankings to magically jump just because the site is new (done wrong, redesigns tank SEO; we redirect properly, but rankings aren't automatic)

If that's you, we'll say so on our first call. No hard sell.

FAQs

Why does a redesign cost the same as a new build?

Because the work is largely the same. We're still designing a new site, rebuilding it on WordPress, and reviewing your content and structure. Your current site gives us a reference point, not a shortcut. Pricing starts at $2k, averages $5k, same as a new build.

Will my SEO rankings drop?

Not if it's handled correctly. We map every existing URL to a redirect on the new site and carry over metadata that's working. Rankings drop when redesigns get rushed or redirects get skipped, not when they're planned out. We can't promise rankings will improve automatically just because the site is new, but we won't let the redesign tank what you've already earned.

Can I keep my existing hosting?

Sometimes. If your current hosting can handle a modern WordPress site, we can build there. If it can't, we'll tell you and handle the migration as part of the project.

What happens to my old content?

We review it page by page as part of the content strategy review. Some of it stays as-is, some gets rewritten, and some gets cut. Redesigns are usually a good chance to trim your page count instead of adding to it.

How long does a redesign take vs a new build?

About the same. Most redesigns run 6 to 10 weeks, depending on scope, which lines up with a typical new build timeline.
