The challenge
When we started, this shop was buried. Position 32 means page four of Google, which means nobody was finding them for the queries that actually matter to a local auto business: repair services, brand-specific service work, and the "near me" searches that turn into phone calls.
The site was technically fine, but content-thin. The homepage was doing all the work. Service pages barely existed. There was no meaningful footprint for the specific repair categories or vehicle brands they wanted to attract.
For a local service business, that's the whole game. You can't rank for what you haven't written about.
The strategy
We built out the content library. Service-specific pages for the repair categories that drive real revenue. Vehicle-brand landing pages that match how people actually search ("Honda service near me" isn't the same query as "auto repair"). On-page structure that gives Google clear signals about what this business does and where.
We also fixed the on-page technical basics -- schema markup, internal linking, page structure -- so that when the content started ranking, it wasn't held back by mechanics.
The results
| Metric | Before (Summer 2025) | After (Summer 2026) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clicks | 198 | 3,370 | +1,602% |
| Impressions | 41,080 | 923,823 | +2,149% |
| Avg search position | 32.4 | 8.1 | Improved 24 pos |
| CTR | 0.48% | 0.36% | -0.12pp |
The CTR dropped slightly, but that's because impressions grew 22x. When you go from 41K impressions a quarter to nearly a million, you're catching a much wider net of queries, and the CTR average dilutes. What matters is that clicks went from 198 to 3,370. That's what fills a service calendar.
Getting to position 8 -- roughly the middle of page one -- for the volume of queries this site is now visible for is elite ranking territory for a local auto service business. Page one is the only page that exists for a local service business, and position 8 with over 900K impressions a quarter means the phone rings, calendars fill, and the business grows without paying for every click.
